Sussex Weald’s Liberal Democrat candidate calls for change on July 4th
As the General Election campaign comes to an end, Liberal Democrat candidate Danielle Newson has said voters across Sussex Weald are “ready for change” and that they’re fighting for every vote.
The Liberal Democrats have been campaigning for action to tackle the cost-of-living crisis, the NHS crisis and the sewage scandal.
“Over the last six months I have learned such a lot about this region of East Sussex. Since I was appointed as the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Sussex Weald in February 2024 we have canvassed almost 11,000 homes right across the constituency. Most of the people we have met have told us they have never been canvassed before and they were very keen to tell us their concerns. If I am elected as their MP I will work very hard to ensure that their needs are met. It will be an honour to serve the people of Sussex Weald,” says Danielle Newson.
Danielle continued, “I was horrified to find out that tankers are taking away sewage from some areas of Hailsham and that this will continue until 2050 because the existing infrastructure cannot cope. I was equally upset to learn how much sewage has been dumped into the local rivers.”
“Having worked as a solicitor with the NHS for many years I understand only too well the pressures being put on the NHS workforce and what is needed to ensure we have an NHS that works effectively for patients and the workforce,” Danielle added.
The Liberal Democrats manifesto offers a bold and fully costed £9bn plan to tackle the health and care crisis, clean up sewage in our waterways, and put the economy back on track.
Liberal Democrat candidate for Sussex Weald, Danielle Newson said, “Throughout this election I have spoken to thousands of people across Sussex Weald, in many villages as well as the larger towns, and one thing is clear - people in Sussex Weald are ready for change.
“Local health services have been brought to their knees, people’s mortgages and rents have skyrocketed and water companies have been allowed to pump their filthy sewage into our rivers and beaches. All this by a Conservative government more interested in fighting between themselves than standing up for the country.
“Every vote for the Liberal Democrats at this election is a vote to elect a strong local champion who will fight every day for our NHS and care.”
